County Scraps Business License Program
For the last two years, businesses in Madison County, Alabama have been required to pay a business license fee. However, officials in Madison County voted to overturn this program due to unpopularity and lack of oversight.
Prior to the implementation of the business license program, entities in unincorporated Madison County were never forced to register with the county. The change was not well liked by business owners. Along with this, officials rarely kept good inventory of businesses in the county, and rarely pursued businesses failing to pay the fee.
