Business Licenses and Permits

In a move aimed at helping local businesses, the City of Spokane, WA is giving business owners a chance to get their business licenses up to date. The city tax and licensing department will allow businesses to come forward and file licenses without having to pay any fines or incurring any other penalties. When the city usually catches an unlicensed business, that business is required to pay 1% interest per month on owed fees plus an additional $10 or 5% interest for each lapsed month. The city made $106,259 on delinquent fees and penalties last year, however this amnesty period is not meant to shore up the city’s budget.
