Restaurants Could Face New Business License Fee

The City Council of Peoria, Illinois voted 10-1 to advise the city administration to implement a new business license fee for restaurants. The $50 fee would be the first time restaurants that do not hold a liquor license would have to make any kind of payment for a business license.

The $50 annual license would help fund a hotel, restaurant and amusement (HRA) tax. Businesses that fail to pay the HRA tax can have their licenses suspended and will cease to operate until payments are made.
