Bay Area To Vote On Using Business License Tax to Rescue Budget

The Bay Area in California has been hard hit by the recession. Municipalities in the area have cut their budgets, but are still facing shortfalls. On November 3rd voters will decide whether or not to raise local tax rates to increase revenue. Voters in Redwood City and Palo Alto will vote on whether or not to increase the annual business license tax. Many cities including San Mateo and South San Francisco are seeking to raise the hotel tax. These measures will need a majority vote to pass.
