Kansas City Updates Business License Code

Kansas City has made some changes to its business license program. These changes include removing occupations and businesses such as coal peddler and poultry show. The city has also removed some regulatory provisions including setting hours for barber shops and beauty parlors. These changes were originally part of a larger plan to reform business license tax rates, a change that would require voter approval. The tax rate vote was scrapped after the city received complaints from business owners that their business license taxes would skyrocket.
