City’s Decision Upsets Nurse

A nurse in Farr West, Utah was given approval to give care to up to two elderly patients at a time in her residence without a business license. Had the city approved the care for a third patient, a license would have been required.

Farr West’s current ordinances do not allow for any type of assisted living facilities in residential or commercial areas, thus the decision to deny a license was made. The nurse argued her nursing home was not going to be used as a way to generate revenue, but rather she just wanted to be able to care for more people than currently allowed.

Council members were skeptical of the nurse’s reasoning and had a difficult time understanding why she would want people living in her home if it were not a revenue-generating business.
