New Ordinance Requires Business Licensees To Verify Employees

The Temecula, CA City Council is meeting tonight to consider a new ordinance that would require business owners to use E-Verify to check if their employees can legally work in the United States.  E-Verify is a free, federal government website that cross checks worker information against immigration and social security records.  The ordinance affects all business license holders in the city, which includes almost all businesses.  If passed, the ordinance would take effect on January 1st, 2011.
