Park Ridge, IL Considers Raising Business License Fees

The City of Park Ridge, Illinois is considering a proposal that would increase business license fees.  Under the current proposal fees would double for many businesses including contractors, real estate salespersons, food trucks, junk dealers and tobacco sellers.  Also under consideration are new fees for businesses that require multiple inspections such as restaurants and public pools. The proposed changes would be the first fee increase in four years.

Raising business licenses fees has been a common way for cities to cope with falling revenue.  These fee increases can be problematic though.  While you increase revenue with higher fees, those high fees can discourage business growth.
