Businesses on Military Installations may need Licenses Too

Any smart business owner will most certainly do research to determine if there are any licensing requirements for his or her business. For those operating a business on a military installation, their research may show that some type of license could be required.

If you’re going to be operating a business at a military base, it is often difficult to determine what, if any, licenses could be required. Coming in contact with someone that can help you at a particular base can be extremely difficult, so a good thing you can try is contacting the nearest local jurisdiction. Often times they can give you a great contact number of someone at the base that can provide help.

Once you’ve reached someone at the installation you’ll be working at, that person can tell you what your business will need to operate. While bases and other installations may not issue licenses per se, they may have different requirements in order for you to operate. These requirements will vary base by base.

Despite it often being difficult to determine what requirements you’ll need to operate at a base, if that particular base lies within a city’s city limits you could be in luck. For example Luke Air Force Base sits within Glendale, AZ city limits, thus businesses operating at the base could be required to obtain a license from the city itself.

Each situation for a business operating on a military installation is unique. The most important thing you can do is conduct thorough research by contacting the installation itself, a local town nearby or perhaps even the county. Hopefully you’ll come across someone that can give you the information you need to operate your business.
