Fatal Shooting Leads to License Revocation

A night of celebration and partying turned to a night of misery for owners of Karma, a nightclub in Victorville, California. What started out as a typical Saturday night, ended on a horrific note with one patron fatally shot after a confrontation between two groups of individuals attending the club. As a result city of officials revoked the business license of Karma.

The fatal shooting was the last straw for the city of Victorville. The captain of the Sherriff’s Department indicated the law enforcement has had to respond to hundreds of calls for service to the club. There have been calls for stabbings, shootings, assaults on officers, and in one instance the SWAT Team was needed. While other night clubs in Victorville have required response from law enforcement, Karma has required far more manpower than any other establishment.

The revocation of the business license could be just the first license lost for Karma. The club also has a liquor license with the Alcohol Beverage Control department. The Sherriff’s Department wrote a letter recommending the liquor license be pulled, but a decision has not been made yet.
