Working without a Business License might be Costly

Daniel Clarence Medlock, owner of Cutting Edge Hardwood Floors in Richland, WA faces up to one year in jail or payment of $12,500 in restitution to one of his customers for whom he took the deposit payment but never performed the work.  Madlock was not registered as a contractor with the Department of Labor and Industries and worked without a business license after he ignored paying a $1,000 fine.  Madlock claims that he settled with the Department of Labor and Industries and did not know that he needed to reapply for the business license and the contractor license.

Not knowing the business license and permit regulations might impact the reputation of the business and the ability to practice your trade.
