Nevada authority outlines business license process plans

A local authority in Nevada is set to introduce its first increase in business license fees in more than ten years.

Clark County’s Department of Business License is looking into plans to raise fees as part of a wider overhaul of business licensing in the region.

Indeed, according to the Las Vegas Business Press, this process looks set to represent the most comprehensive revamping of business regulations in the county since the chapters relating to licensing were first adopted back in 1961.

In particular, local officials are keen to make the process of applying and paying for a business license clearer, with the wording of the rules and regulations to be changed to include the term “business license” rather than “business tax.”

“A lot of it is to rearrange things so it flows more logically,” said Clark County auditor Terri Stevenson of plans to restructure the chapters of the county’s code relating to licensing.

Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Review-Journal has cited a new report from the research partnership Brookings Mountain West which notes that the city is now second-to-last on a list of the 100 largest U.S. metropolitan areas in terms of economic recovery.
