North Dakota could allow license for home-brewed beer

People who brew their own beer in North Dakota could, under state law, be allowed a business license to sell their produce.

A bill proposed by Rep. Dan Ruby will be heard by the Industry, Business and Labor Committee in the North Dakota House and if approved would allow home brewers to apply for a state domestic brewery business license.

The Associated Press reported that Mr. Ruby highlighted the need for such a license as North Dakota is a leading producer of barley, and domestic brewers should be able to market their goods.

If the license is obtained by brewers, they would be able to sell their product to wholesalers for sale throughout the state, which would boost their business, as well as offer tastings and set up stalls at trade shows.

Already business licenses are offered to people who make their own wine and other alcohol products from home, the news provider stated.
