Casino applies for gaming business license in Nevada

A casino has announced that it has started the application process for obtaining a business license to operate in Nevada.

Nevada Gold & Casinos said that it has met with the Nevada Gaming Control Board in the hope that it can acquire a gaming license and open up shop in the state.

“We intend to acquire regional casino properties on an opportunistic basis in Nevada,” Robert Sturges, chief executive of Nevada Gold, said in a statement.

“We believe applying for a license now will allow us to expedite future transactions by removing a potentially lengthy process as an impediment to closing.”

He noted that last year the company opened a business development office in the state and that it is “actively” reviewing potential casino sites.

The company is also developing a hotel and casino near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Nevada Gold was set up in Houston, Texas, and already has ten gaming facilities in Colorado and Washington.
