Owners of a bar in Waterloo, Iowa, have been denied a liquor business license by the City Council and by the police department.
Damir and Fata Pajazetovic had hoped to open Club Fever in the city, but it has now become the fifth business to be denied a liquor license by council members in the past year, the WCF Courier reported.
However, in this case, a number of reasons were given for denying the permit.
Director of safety services Dan Trelka stated that the couple had not paid a $1,500 tobacco violation fine until after they applied for a new license. The violation was two years old.
One of the applicants had also failed to list a criminal conviction on the application.
While the City Council has denied four liquor licenses, the Iowa state Alcoholic Beverages Division has already overturned two of the cases and granted them licenses, while the other two are currently being considered.
