West Virginia bar denied liquor business license

A bar operating in Cheat Lake, West Virginia, has been denied a business license to sell alcohol by the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration (ACBA).

According to the State Journal, the business had hoped to become a video gambling bar, but ACBA spokesman Gig Robinson said the permit had been denied because the bar is isolated and located in a residential community, just 100 feet away from peoples’ homes.

Because of the refusal, the bar, Tiffany’s V, cannot apply for a video gaming license as it would have needed to prove that it had a liquor permit first.

However, Mr Robinson told the news provider that the board had considered the application thoroughly, conducting on-site inspections and listening to public opinion on the matter.

But residents and local business owners in the area had largely opposed the license.

The owners of Tiffany’s V can appeal the decision within ten days.
