A car dealership in Westborough, Massachusetts, will remain closed to sales under a 30-day business license suspension while selectmen continue to debate issues relating to the site.
Earlier this month, Westborough Mobil’s Class II Used Car Dealer’s license was suspended after the company was found to have been selling more than five cars on the lot at any one time, exceeding the permit limit. (The business is allowed to continue selling gas and run its car maintenance operations.)
However, company manager Joe Gallini said the business does not sell cars in the state but repairs vehicles in order to be shipped overseas.
Board of Selectmen chairman Lydia Goldblatt questioned this, stating that some cars on the lot needed significant work, as reported by the Daily Westborough. Goldblatt said: “It becomes very unfair to all the service stations in town that do what they’re supposed to do.”
The hearing will continue on June 14 as the selectmen await the business’ record books.
