A nightclub in Florissant, Missouri, has been heavily damaged in a fire that broke out this week (August 16th), just days before a hearing was due to take place regarding its business license.
City officials had planned a hearing later this month to discuss the future of Envy Ultra Lounge as the owners are accused of failing to control the business, which has been plagued with violence and disruption, KSDK.com reported.
It could result in a suspension or full revocation of the business license.
Florissant Police chief Bill Karabas told the news provider, “There have been a number of calls there, like fights, disturbances, things of that nature. So the city had summoned the owner to come in and explain.”
It is not known how the fire broke out on Tuesday, but the fire department was called to the scene just 45 minutes after the club closed at 1:15 a.m. and the club remains shut.
