Inflation drives up business license fees in Schaumburg

Council officials in Schaumburg, Illinois (Il), have increased business license fees to account for rising costs in inflation.

An average increase of between two and four per cent will come into effect in the New Year for business licenses and other fees in the city, according to the newspaper Trib Local Schaumburg.

The increases come at a time when economic matters are high on the agenda in Schaumburg.

U.S. Senator Mark Kirk made an appearance at a Schaumburg Township Republican Organization meeting this week to talk about the economy and US foreign policy.

Mr. Kirk underlined his concerns about the impact a decision to raise taxes would have on the local economy and families, particularly in light of recent tax rises in the Illinois capital of Springfield.

He claimed that the implications of President Obama’s spending plans were concerning.

Small businesses are coming under increasing pressure to address financial concerns, prompting opposition to any decision to raise business related taxes across the country.
