A businessman in the City of Mauldin, South Carolina (SC) is claiming that the revocation of his business license is the result of a campaign of discrimination.
Hailee’s Sports Bar and Grill owner Sonny Ninan has accused the police of practicing “selective enforcement and harassment” after he terminated their contract to work off-duty hours as security in the parking lot of his bar.
City Officials have denied Ninan’s claims, telling the Mauldin Patch the license had been revoked because the bar had been selling alcohol outside of legal hours.
Mauldin Police Department have received a grant of $129,449 to support their work in cracking down on alcohol-related misdemeanors by businesses and citizens within the city.
The department’s endeavours have been recognised by the Phoenix Centre and the Greenville County Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Coalition.
Police officer George Miller was named alcohol enforcement officer of the year in Greenville County for his dedication to maintain city drinking laws, according to the Greenville News.
Officer Miller performs compliance checks once a month among Maudlin’s businesses to ensure that proprietors are in compliance with city ordinances.
