A strip club in Waco City, Texas has had its sexually orientated business license revoked after police investigations into prostitution.
According to KWTX, the club knowingly allowed prostitution on the premises but the company maintains it has no knowledge of the charges placed against them.
“If a girl got picked up soliciting someone in front of City Hall would the mayor go to jail? It’s the same thing,” John Skruck, the club owner’s father, told the news portal after the council’s decision.
Ordinance No 99-25 of the Texas state code governing sexually orientated business licenses states that business must not be used for unlawful sexual activities, including prostitution and sexual liaisons of a casual nature.
The City Commission is aware that sexually orientated businesses are often used for unlawful activities and businesses should receive special supervision from public safety agencies in order to protect the health and safety of all involved.
Texas officials also maintain the right to revoke and decline applications for business licenses by those who have been charged in violation of the ordinances managing sexually orientated business licences.
