The state of Nevada is continuing to target businesses who fail to comply with licensing laws.
The state Securities Division has pledged its investigative and legal resources to challenge Nevada businesses that claim home-based exemptions.
Secretary of state Ross Miller stated, “We’re not going to allow businesses to skirt the rules.
“We’re going to aggressively enforce our statutes and regulations, and in doing so we’re going to ensure that compliant businesses are operating on a level playing field.”
Some 73 per cent of businesses claiming home-based exemptions in Nevada have been found to be false, in an investigation launched by Secretary Miller, posing an unfair disadvantage to businesses that comply with licensing regulations and costing the state tens of millions of dollars.
Ross Miller was sworn into office on January 1st 2007 and has been committed to enhancing the state’s economic development through cooperation with the business community.
He has established the Nevada Business Portal, in which businesses can conduct exchanges with a variety of state entities, and WhyNevada.com that acts as a resource for new and relocating businesses.
