Business licenses under review in Las Vegas

County business licenses are being debated in Las Vegas, Nevada to crack down on businesses that do not obtain the required license.

The Las Vegas Sun reported that confusion over city and council business licenses is costing the county millions of dollars each year and is causing concern among officials and local entrepreneurs.

A debate was sparked when NCV Southwest Inc included a clause in the sale of its assets to First Class Vending Inc stating that they must obtain a business license “prior to the start of operations”, indicating that they did not currently have a license.

Business owners in the state are often unaware that they need a county business license, as they have already paid for a city license, according to the newspaper.

To combat the problem, commissioner Chris Giunchigliani of the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Commission is currently working on a unified license.

Officials in Las Vegas are striving to improve the business licensing process to encourage growth within the area and make it easier to do business in the city.

A new website has recently been launched to enable individuals interested in opening a business to apply and pay for a license online.
