Businesses encouraged to apply for licenses in St. Anthony

Businesses in St. Anthony, Minnesota are being encouraged to apply for the city’s new business license.

The Standard Journal reported that officials have issued a newsletter to locals, containing a license application form for businesses.

Applications for a business license must be delivered to St. Anthony’s City Hall before January 1st 2012.

Companies in St. Anthony could previously operate without a license, but the council adopted licensing ordinance after problems with door-to-door salesmen.

However, applications for licenses will initially be voluntary and investigations into unlicensed operations will be complaints driven.

St. Anthony aims to create a healthy business climate that competes with other markets around the country.

It is hoped that the business license tax will generate funds that can, in turn, be invested in the city to encourage growth and a sense of community.

In addition to license tax, St. Anthony strives to promote and support existing and new businesses through proactive marketing, promote a positive relationship between residents and businesses, and provide timely and accurate information to local companies.
