Napa Valley Casino has won its case against American Canyon, California.
The company has received a reprieve from losing its business license after employees, friends and relatives picketed the front of City Hall and packed the council chamber for the hearing to decide the fate of the casino, according to the American Canyon Eagle.
American Canyon had previously informed the business that their license would be placed on a suspended sentence until they could present evidence that it is authorized to operate in the state.
Napa Valley Canyon had also had charges brought against them for refusing to pay the city’s card-room tax.
The news paper reported that Steven R. Disharoon, who represented the casino, claimed at the hearing that the city had been wrong to threaten suspension of the license.
According to Mr. Disharoon, Napa Valley Casino was a fictitious name and did not need to be registered with the state – the corporate name being BVK Gaming.
Despite the city arguing that the name on a company’s business license must accurately reflect its business presence, Napa Valley Casino won their case.
