Residents object to gun shop business license

Following the successful business license application of a gun shop in the village of Oak Park, Illinois, residents have voiced concerns over what the shop might mean for the neighborhood.

Although no inventory will be kept on site at Windy City Firearms, according to OakPark.com, locals will hold a forum to learn more about the new business, amidst concerns that the shop will negatively impact upon the village.

Speaking to the news portal, Oak Park board member stated, “If the village has deemed it proper for [Windy City Firearms] to start [up] business … then obviously there’s some reasons why and I think if everyone has the information, we’ll all be better neighbors.”

Despite being a small residential community, Oak Park boasts more than 75 restaurants and more than 4,000 businesses.

However, officials strive to maintain a safe village and many are worried about the effects a gun business may have on the future.
