The opening of a ‘sexy gift’ store in Florence, Ohio is causing confusion over what is permitted under local licensing laws.
Cincinnati.com reported that Jimmy Flynt’s plans to open Flynt’s Sexy Gifts in the city early next year are causing officials to look closely at what is permitted under ordinances before it becomes classified as a sexually orientated business.
If allowed to open, the store will sell lingerie, personal massage devices and other products, including lotions and oils.
Nonetheless, if this is deemed to be sexually orientated stock, Mr. Flynt will be subjected to strict local regulations and will not be able to operate such an operation at its current location under zoning ordinances.
However, if Mr. Flynt’s endeavour is thought to be sexually orientated he could benefit from the local Development Incentive for Florence Main Street Reinvestment, which offers funding for sexually orientated businesses redeveloping property in the area.
Thus far the city has granted a building permit for the business but has yet to sign off on the occupational license.
