Companies in the City of Opelika, Alabama who have yet to renew their business license are now too late.
The deadline for annual renewal passed yesterday (February 15th) and despite warnings from revenue officer Lillie Finley many businesses may have failed to submit their applications.
Those who have done so, however, will have taken advantage of one of the three ways that licenses could be renewed in the city.
Businesses could have submitted their forms in person by 4.30 pm yesterday at the Revenue Office, or by mail.
Alternatively, companies could have used the city’s online payment service provided by the Opelika Revenue Department.
Firms renewing yesterday will have had to observe new licensing ordinances passed as a result of the state’s immigration law.
The measures have come under harsh criticism for their impact on businesses and immigrants, leading to the law suit that is currently taking place to challenge the measures.
